This community service program aims to enhance students’ interest and competence in learning the science of the Qur’an at TPA Desa Lalong, particularly for children who are still at the Iqro and early Qur’an reading stages. The program was implemented with 15 children of varying proficiency levels through mentoring methods, habituation practices, and grouping based on competency levels. The initial stage involved identifying each child’s reading ability, followed by grouping them to ensure that the guidance process was more effective and tailored to their individual needs. The implementation was carried out gradually by providing correct reading models, repetitive practice, direct corrections, and a communicative and enjoyable learning approach to foster self-confidence and learning motivation. Evaluation was conducted qualitatively through observations of participation, enthusiasm, concentration, and the development of reading fluency and accuracy. The results indicated a significant improvement in learning interest, active engagement, and the ability to read in accordance with tajwid rules. The grouping strategy proved effective in creating a more conducive and adaptive learning environment that accommodates differences in ability levels. In addition to improving individual competence, this program also supported teachers in classroom management and encouraged parental and community involvement in sustaining learning habits. With a simple yet structured approach, this initiative has the potential to serve as an effective and sustainable mentoring model for tajwid learning in rural educational settings.
