Building Vocational Digital Talent Through Strengthening AI-Based Content Management System Skills

Abstract

Advancements in digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) have transformed workforce competency requirements, necessitating that Vocational High School (SMK) graduates possess adaptive digital skills aligned with industry needs. However, many students still face limitations in managing digital content via Content Management Systems (CMS) and leveraging AI to enhance productivity. The implementation employed a Participatory Action Training (PAT) approach, integrating training, hands-on practice, mentoring, and continuous evaluation. The activity stages included: (1) analyzing participants' competency needs; (2) developing AI-integrated CMS training modules; (3) delivering material on CMS concepts and AI utilization in digital content management; (4) practicing website development and management using AI-assisted CMS; (5) providing guidance on digital portfolio creation; and (6) conducting evaluations through pre-tests, post-tests, skills observation, and participant satisfaction surveys. The results indicate that the training significantly improved students' digital competencies. The average participant score rose from 58.4 in the pre-test to 86.7 in the post-test; notably, 89.5% of participants were able to independently develop simple websites using CMS and integrate AI features to generate more effective content. Furthermore, 92.3% of participants reported that the training provided a learning experience relevant to the demands of the digital workforce, while 90.1% successfully created digital portfolios demonstrating competencies that support their job readiness.
