Smart Citation Management: Mendeley Usage Training for Students of the Management Study Program at Pattimura University

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity was carried out to help students of the Management Study Program at Pattimura University understand the use of the Mendeley application for reference management and scientific citation writing. The activity was attended by 18 students and was conducted through material presentation, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and application usage mentoring. The training materials included Mendeley installation, reference management, the use of automatic citations in Microsoft Word, and bibliography compilation. The results of the activity showed that the students were quite enthusiastic about participating in the training and were able to understand the basic use of the Mendeley application well. Based on the evaluation results, 44.44% of participants were in the very good category, 38.89% in the good category, and 16.67% in the fair category. Furthermore, all participants successfully completed the practice of using Mendeley for compiling automatic citations and bibliographies. This activity helped students more easily manage scientific references and reduced errors in citation and bibliography writing. Similar training is expected to be conducted sustainably to support students' scientific writing capabilities.
